Server logs

What: your IP address, the time of the visit and the page requested.

Why: to keep the site running, trace faults and spot abusive traffic.

How long: a few weeks, then the host overwrites them.

Cookies

What: small files WordPress needs for logins and to recall your name in the comment box.

Why: the site’s own features depend on them. Nothing tracks you elsewhere.

How long: from the end of your session up to about a year. Your browser settings let you clear them.

Comments

What: a name, an e-mail address and your message, where comments are turned on.

Why: to publish your remark and to filter out spam. Name and message are public; the address is not.

How long: until you ask for removal or the article is retired.

E-mail to the editor

What: the message and sender address when you write to info@psnation.org.

Why: to answer you and log any correction.

How long: until the matter is closed, plus a few months.

What we do not do

  • We sell nothing.
  • We run no advertising profiles.
  • We pass data on only under a binding legal demand.

Where the data sits

Everything lives on the host’s servers that run this WordPress install. There is no separate database of readers, no spreadsheet export and no mailing list. If you never comment and never write in, the only trace of you is a log line that expires on schedule.

Security in brief

Editor logins are protected by strong passwords, and the software is kept current. No system is perfect, so keep personal details out of public comments. If you spot a problem, report it by e-mail and it gets checked right away.

Your rights

Ask for a copy, a fix or a deletion. Send the request by e-mail with the article title or date. We confirm, act and report back; if we cannot comply, we state the reason.

Younger readers

This is a site for teens and adults. Under-13s need a parent’s go-ahead before commenting or writing in. Details from a child get deleted on discovery.
