What I play and why it is a mix
Hi, Steven Howard here, the person typing most of what you read on this site. The blog started around one game, but my own evenings never stayed in one place, so the coverage did not either. These days the rotation is ARC Raiders, Escape from Tarkov, Overwatch, Warzone and Destiny 2, depending on what changed that week.
Tarkov is where I go when I want to feel nervous about a door. Overwatch is where I go to relax and then lose my temper over a bad ultimate call. Destiny 2 is the long-running habit, with weekly resets I still plan around.
How I write the posts
- I play the thing first. If I have not touched a patch, I say the post is based on notes only.
- I write bullets before sentences. If a point cannot survive as one short line, it is probably not clear yet.
- I try to finish with something a squad can do in the next match: a call-out to agree on, a loadout to test, a spot to avoid.
- I would rather admit I do not know a mechanic than invent a confident answer.
My setup habits
Nothing exotic. I keep sensitivity settings written down so I can compare after a patch, I play with a headset on and game audio turned up a little over voice, and I clip rough moments for my own review before I write about them. Controller or mouse depends on the game, and I say which one when it matters to the advice.
A good session for me ends with a notes file and a short list of things I want to verify. Most posts come from that list. If you play one of these games differently and think I have missed something, send me a note; some of the best corrections on this site started that way.
What I will not do
I will not pretend a rough patch is great because it is popular, and I will not claim a build is the best one when I have only tried it a handful of times. You will see words like tested, tried and not sure instead.
